Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is considering a summer move to bring Alex Song back to the Emirates Stadium, according to reports from The Express.
The Cameroonian international left the Premier League side last summer to move to Spain in a £15m deal.
However, things haven’t quite worked out for the 25-year-old, as he has struggled to force his way into Barca’s star-studded starting XI on a regular basis.
His on-field woes even led to the midfielder being named as the second worst signing in the whole of La Liga during 2012 by Marca, with only Real Madrid’s Luka Modric deemed to have been less of a success.
Reports suggest that Barcelona are willing to allow Song to leave this summer, alerting Wenger who is keen to add some strength and depth to his midfield.
The Frenchman is said to be keen to bring back his former player, who was one of Arsenal’s star performers last term
A fee of around £12m is thought to be enough to tempt the Catalan giants to cut their losses, a figure the Gunners could reach with Wenger expected to be handed around £70m to spend this summer.
Paris Saint-Germain are also interested, but Song may be tempted to return to north London.
