At the beginning of the month, we were told that Leeds wanted a goalkeeper, a winger and a striker.
Now with just a few days of the window to go, the Whites have done exactly what they wanted as they’ve landed Elia Caprile, Ian Poveda and Jean-Kevin Augustin to play in those three positions.
However, Augustin may not play as an out and out number nine as Phil Hay has suggested that the new man could play in a more creative role.

What’s been said then?
The journalist was hosting a post-match Q&A session on The Athletic, and one fan asked whether or not Patrick Bamford would move into a number 10 role in order to accommodate for Augustin.
Surprisingly, Hay said that he doesn’t expect to see Bamford drop deeper, but he did say that Augustin could feature in a creative position.
“I doubt it. He did experiment with Bamford and Roofe in the same side for a very brief period last season but he doesn’t tend to go that way. Augustin can play in a more creative role though. I’m interested to see.”
Surprising
This is an intriguing development.
The Frenchman’s stats don’t paint him to be a huge creative force as he’s not played a single key pass all season, and last term he averaged just 0.5 key passes per game.
Not only does that not seem to be the type of player Augustin is, but it’s not what Leeds need right now.
United’s problems aren’t in creating chances, their xG is the highest of any team in the Championship, but getting the ball in the net has been a huge problem.
Hopefully, Augustin isn’t played in a more creative role, but it is interesting to see Hay claiming that he can play there if needed.
